A mad bomb expert named Howard Payne puts a bomb on a city bus. The bomb will explode if the bus goes slower than 50 miles per hour. Now, it's up to police officer Jack Traven and a passenger named Annie Porter to keep the bus moving and save everyone inside.
Jack Traven is a young police officer in the Special Weapons and Tactics (S.W.A.T.) team in Los Angeles. One day, he stops a man named Howard Payne from setting off a bomb in an elevator and saving the people trapped inside. Howard, who used to work in the bomb squad, gets angry and wants revenge.
To get back at Jack, Howard places a bomb on a city bus. The bomb is set to explode if the bus goes slower than 50 miles per hour. Jack quickly gets on the bus to help. With the help of a brave passenger named Annie and his partner Harry Temple, Jack tries to keep the bus moving fast and keep everyone safe.
At the same time, they try to figure out how Howard is watching them and how to stop him before it’s too late.
